Amos Garrett
It wouldn't feel like MusicFest without him. Amos Garrett is back again this year, rightly featured in a Guitar Heroes collaboration on the mainstage with Albert Lee, David Wilcox and James Burton.
I tracked him down at his home in High River, Alberta in February.

The Fretless
The Fretless bring their high-energy string thing to the Vancouver Island MusicFest for the first time in 2013, but the group already has strong ties to the Island and the Comox Valley. Formed in 2011, the award-winning quartet has been busy touring their first album Waterbound, each bringing an amazing musical pedigree to the mix.
We talked to Trent Freeman (fiddle) about the group and their music.

Ronny Cox
You might recognize him from the classic 1972 film Deliverance, or RoboCop, or any one of dozens of other movie and TV roles, but there's a lot more to Ronny Cox than his acting. In fact, it was his musical talent that helped to launch his film career. A great storyteller, Cox joined us from his cabin in California with thoughts on the movie that changed everything and the music that means even more.

Oliver Mtukudzi and the Black Spirits
There is great joy and celebration to be heard in the music of Zimbabwe's Oliver Mtukudzi, also known as "Tuku music", but his latest album - incredibly, his 60th - marks the tragic loss of his son Sam in 2010. We caught up with Oliver on tour in Louisiana, where he spoke about the challenges of mixing celebration with pain.

Martha Redbone Roots Project
It's not every day one gets to hear an Appalachian folk music take on an 18th century English Romantic poet, but then it's not every day one gets to hear the Martha Redbone Roots Project.
MusicFest Sunday, however, brings you three chances to hear Martha's infectious, glorious voice adding new meaning to roots, folk and blues.
We caught up with Martha Redbone in New York City.
